To ensure safety and compliance with our insurance standards, all pilots must meet the following criteria:
Pilot History Form & Flight Experience: Submit a detailed logbook breakdown for broker/underwriter approval or Open Pilot Warranty verification, explicitly confirming:
Total flight time (minimum 300 hours).
Make and model PIC time in the Cirrus SR22 (minimum 30 hours).
Instrument rating currency (including date of last IPC within the last 12 months or recent instrument experience).
Training Documentation: Proof of completion of factory-approved Cirrus Transition Training (or equivalent syllabus with an authorized CSIP/TCI).
Logbook Verification: Logbook entries confirming a current flight review, landing currency, and a valid FAA medical certification.
Checkout Evaluation: Successful completion of a flight checkout with a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) or TCI.
Non-Owned Aircraft Insurance: Renters must provide proof of a Non-Owned Aircraft Liability (Renter's) policy including:
Liability & Hull Coverage: Minimum liability limits of $250,000+ and physical damage (hull) coverage matching the aircraft's $1,000 deductible (for both "In Motion" and "Not In Motion" occurrences).
Waiver of Subrogation: Policy must include a waiver of subrogation in favor of Leonard Aviation.
Loss of Use: Recommended coverage to protect against downtime during repairs.
Signed Dry Lease Agreement: An executed written dry lease agreement outlining operational control, hourly dry rates, and billing terms must be signed prior to dispatch.
Initial Inquiry & Flight History: Submit your logbook summary (total time, Cirrus SR22 PIC hours, and instrument currency).
Insurance & Underwriter Approval: Provide a Pilot History Form (PHF) to be submitted to our broker for named-pilot policy endorsement, or verify compliance under our policy's Open Pilot Warranty.
Non-Owned Coverage Verification: Provide a Certificate of Insurance for your Non-Owned Aircraft (renter's) policy showing minimum $250k liability and hull coverage for the $1,000 policy deductible, naming Leonard Aviation as additional insured.
Dry Lease Agreement & Minimum Commitment: Execute our formal 14 CFR Part 91 Bare Aircraft Dry Lease Agreement. Agreements require a monthly minimum flight commitment of 3 hours dry ($1,350/mo).
Aircraft Checkout & Flight Cirrus Scheduling: Complete a local standardization flight with an authorized CSIP/CFI and receive access to our online scheduling and dispatch system.
Leonard Aviation provides bare aircraft dry leases under 14 CFR Part 91. Leonard Aviation does not provide flight crew, air transportation, or commercial charter services. All lessees exercise sole operational control and pilot-in-command responsibility for flights conducted.
